–

EMMANUEL Ojukwu, commissioner of police and former Force Public Relations Officer, has been posted to the Enugu State Command. He is to replace Nwodibo Ekechukwu, commissioner of Police in charge when the Ukpabi Nimbo massacre by Fulani herdsmen took place April 25, Enugu State Command.

Bisi Kolawole, Force Public Relations Officer, confirmed on Tuesday that Ekechukwu had been posted out of the state to another command as part of the strategy to improve policing in the state although she did not reveal where he has been redeployed.

About 48 persons in Ukpabi Nimbo, an agrarian community in the Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, were killed last week, while about 50 were injured during the attack.

The removal is sequel to the fact that the security agencies in the state were given ample information that the herdsmen’ attack was imminent but they all failed to act to protect the citizens who were hacked to death.

As at press time none of the herdsmen has been arrested since the unprovoked attacked on Nimbo.
