ETISALAT Nigeria has launched its 4G Long-Term Evolution, 4GLTE to drive the future of technology in Nigeria through the delivery of high-speed data and quality voice services, Etisalat Nigeria said the key objective of the introduction of its mobile 4GLTE is to enable its customers and Nigerian internet users and most those on its network to do more.

Adebisi Idowu, vice-president, marketing, Etisalat Nigeria, said the Etisalat 4GLTE service is being made available strategically to customers in the Lagos Mainland areas of Yaba, Surulere and Ikeja, which he described as the hub and future of Nigeria’s technology and economic development.

The service will be rolled out in more cities across Nigeria soon. He made the disclosure at the demo of the 4GLTE service in Lagos. Idowu, speaking with a cross section of Etisalat customers, celebrities, technology journalists and social media influencers, who experienced the Etisalat 4GLTE service firsthand, stated that the telecom is more passionate about quality service and innovation.

“We are positioning our 4GLTE service as a lifestyle enabler. That is why Etisalat is the only network that does not require a SIM swap before a customer can enjoy 4G connectivity. We want to see and encourage the use of our 4G technology to enable our subscribers to be all they can be. Our subscribers are able to do more with this new level of technology. We will not impose features of 4G on our consumers; we want you to tell you what 4G is doing for you. For us, the consumer is the innovator.

“We have an increasing number of people trying to get online, get their work done and impact lives; and our goal is to enable such people to exploit their potential. Etisalat’s strategy is to enable our subscribers to compete globally; so we abide by best practices and bring nothing short of international quality service to our customers across Nigeria.

“The Etisalat 4GLTE technologies offer subscribers on the Etisalat network increased access to high speed data and quality voice services real time. With the new technology, customers will enjoy efficient broadband internet and uninterrupted connectivity to clearer voice calls, increased access to online streaming and ultra-high definition videos.”

Etisalat Nigeria is one of the leading telecom in the country, with the company being one of the best internet service providers.  The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, recently said that as at June this year, a total of 547,662 subscribers ported to other networks since 2013 when the scheme was introduced, according to figures posted recently on the NCC’s website.

In the month of July, 2016, about 21,120 subscribers across Airtel, MTN, Etisalat and Globacom, ported to different networks, bringing the total number of subscribers that have ported in the last three years, to 568, 782.

The figures showed that for all incoming porting, which explains the migration of subscribers to another network, Etisalat recorded the highest number of incoming subscribers to its network, which NCC puts at 12,378 for the month of June, 2016 only, followed by Airtel, which had 5,527 new subscribers to its network. Globacom had 1,558 new subscribers that ported to its network, and the least was 1,341, which ported to the MTN network.

In the month of July 2016, Etisalat still maintained  the  lead position for  the number of incoming subscribers that ported. Etisalat had 11,136; Airtel had 8,177; Globacom had 1,446; while MTN still maintained the least incoming porting at 361.

With its launch of 4GLTE, the telecom giant is expected to have more internet users in the country switching to its network.
