Oyeyemi Felicitates with Muslims at Eid-El-Fitri Celebration

FOLLOWING the formal announcement of the sighting of the moon of Shawwal by the Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Saad Abubakar 111 and termination of Ramadan fast, Oyeyemi, Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi felicitates with the Muslim faithful on the celebration of Eid-El-Fitri.

In his Sallah message, the Corps Marshal congratulated the Muslims for successfully completing the month of Ramadan which was devoted to sacrifice, prayer and devotion, saying such spirit should be sustained beyond the month, for peaceful co-existence, safety and security among the people.

According to a press release from Bisi Kazeem, Head, Media Relations and Strategy, FRSC,  Oyeyemi said  the month of Ramadan provides opportunity for Muslims to show devotion to God, seek His blessings and show compassion to the less privileged members of the society, enjoining them to sustain these goodness by being considerate to other road users while using the road during the celebration and beyond. “Ramadan was a period of self purification, love and showing of compassion for the less privileged members of the society,” he stated.

“I seize this opportunity to felicitate with the entire Muslims on this occasion of Eid-El-Fitri celebration and appeal to all motorists to use the road with utmost care by avoiding dangerous driving, speed violation and other traffic offences such as phoning while driving and overloading.

“All drivers and passengers including the front and rear seat passengers must always belt up while riding in a moving vehicle during the celebration and beyond. Motorists must particularly endeavour to check their tyres to ensure that they are neither fake, overinflated nor underinflated,” he further stated.

The Corps Marshal disclosed that towards ensuring free road environment during the celebration, adequate logistics provisions have been made by the FRSC, while regular and special marshals as well as monitors from the National Headquarters have been adequately deployed to Field Commands during the festive period. He added that all FRSC offices, Roadside Clinics and Zebra Points would remain open to attend to the needs of the road travellers during the celebration.

In case of emergencies, the Corps Marshal advised members of the public to promptly contact FRSC through its Call Centre: 0700-CALL-FRSC (0700-2255-3772) or 122 for prompt response. He wishes all staff of the FRSC and indeed, the entire Muslim faithful Happy Sallah celebration and safety during the celebration and beyond.
