THE South East Revival Group, SERG, has console families who lost their lives in recent herdsmen attach at Nimbo in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, urging the federal government to wake up to its responsibility of providing adequate security to Nigerians and ensure perpetrators were punished.

The group also condoled with the state Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who wept openly over the killing of over 40 persons in the state.

A statement signed by Willy Ezugwu, national coordinator, described the governor as “a man of the people who was moved to tears by the level of devastation caused by the rampaging herdsmen to his people.”

“We condole with the families of those who lost their lives in the Monday night attack by Fulani herdsmen at seven villages in Nimbo, namely Nimbo Ngwoko, Ugwuijoro, Ekwuru, Ebor, Enugu Nimbo, Umuome and Ugwuachara, and with the state Governor, Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and the entire people of Enugu State.

“While we appeal to the people of Enugu State to remain calm and believe in the ability of the governor to address the situation, we urge the National Assembly and the Federal Government to urgently ensure that by way of legislation, the problem associated with grazing is addressed once and for all to prevent future occurrence”.

“We call on President Muhammadu Buhari to not only call the herdsmen to order but also ensure this dastardly acts did not go unpunished. Just as the Federal Government should, as a matter of urgency, wake up to its responsibility and provide adequate security for all citizens irrespective of tribe of political affiliation”, the group stated.
