The presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Professor Kingsley Moghalu, has claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari does not have the political will to secure the nation.

Moghalu said this on Monday during an interview on Channels Television programme, Politics Today.

He, however, boasted that he has “the political will to secure Nigeria,” claiming that “President Muhammadu Buhari does not have the political will to secure this nation.”

Moghalu lamented that Boko Haram and herders attacks still persist in the nation. He attributed this to the lack of competence and political will of the government.

“The problem is two things – the real political will is not there, the competence is not there. There is a lot of parochialism in the security management of Nigeria.

“All the security agencies in this country, almost 99 per cent of them are headed by people from one part of the country. This is one of the reasons why this country is not secured,” he said.

Moghalu also decried the high level of the poverty rate, calling for the right policies to address the situation.

He also promised to initiate good innovations and ideas that would create better opportunities for Nigerians if elected President.

He stated further that, the fundamental aspect of the economy of our country is not functioning properly and that is why poverty is so high. You manage the economy with a vision.

“There are three things that will make Nigeria’s economy function very well. Once I get into office as President, I will ensure those things are in place – property rights, innovation, the capital. That is how a capitalist economy function.

“None of those three things exists in the Nigerian economy. How can the economy function well?” he questioned.

With the general elections barely 158 days from now, Moghalu called for the ‘recycling of old politicians’ whom he said don’t mean well for the citizens
