AS part of its efforts to reduce government expenditures and develop capacity for the country, the Bureau of Public Enterprise, BPE, has inaugurated project teams to handle various transactions within the organisation. The project teams were constituted last week at a seminar organised for the organisation’s staff. The seminar which was tagged: “Achieving Breakthrough Work Ethics, Productivity and Attitude Excellence” held in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

According to Benjamin Dikki, director general of BPE, the organisation which is responsible for privatizing government corporations, will collaborate with other government agencies to drive the reform initiatives of the federal government. Dikki also assured that the BPE would involve the relevant personnel from ministries and other government agencies to actualize the goals of the project teams.

Pledging that organisation would reward hard work and commitment, Dikki advised the management to eschew all forms of nepotism and patronage in order to “get people who fit the job in the various project teams”. He also informed the management that the Policy and Monitoring Committee of the National Council on Privatisation, NCP, has considered the proposals for the next transactions which will soon be forwarded for approval.

BPE Boss on Work Ethics

BENJAMIN Ezra Dikki, the acting director general of the Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE, has appealed to the staff of the Bureau to always imbibe work ethics in the discharge of their duties. Addressing the staff recently in Keffi, Nasarawa State, during an impact training programme organised to re-orientate the staff on work ethics, the BPE boss said that his administration was keen on inculcating positive attitudes in the discharge of staff duties until it becomes second nature.

He said, henceforth, lateness to work, indecent dressing and absenteeism would be frowned at and severe sanctions meted out to violators. Dikki noted that whatever attitude or conduct exhibited by the staff would impact on the image of the Bureau. He charged them to, at all times, conduct themselves positively to sustain the good image of the BPE. The training programme with the theme: “Achieving Breakthrough Work Ethics” ran for two days.

Meeting of Project Analysts

A REGIONAL consultative meeting ended recently in Cotonou, Republic of Benin, on the design of format and content of the ECOWAS Development Programme, CDP, datasheets and modalities for analysing the project. Participants also discussed the content of the draft CDP Regional document and made suggestions for improvement and equally examined a roadmap for the preparation of a donors’ round table for financing the CDP.

In addition to experts from the ECOWAS Commission, the meeting was also attended by representatives of intergovernmental organisations and partner institutions such as the ECOWAS Bank for Industrial Development, EBID, the West African Economic and Monetary Union, UEMOA, and the West African Development Bank, BOAD. The meeting was organised by the ECOWAS Commission, to among other aims discuss the key tools and define the framework for collecting relevant information.
