Shittu Applauds NIPOST, Aduloju over PAPU Re-Election

ADEBAYO Shittu, minister of communications, has congratulated the Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST, and its representative, Kolawole Raheem Aduloju for his re-election as assistant secretary-general of the Pan African Postal Union, PAPU. Aduloju was re-elected at the just concluded 9th Plenipotentiary Conference of PAPU held in Yaounde, Cameroun, recently.

Shittu, who was the head of the Nigerian delegation to the conference attended by 44 countries and major stakeholders in the postal industry, said Aduloju’s re-election for another four years was in recognition of Nigeria’s immense contributions to the progress and development of PAPU.

According to a press release by Victor Oluwadamilare, the minister’s special assistant on Media, Shittu also congratulated Younouss Djibrine, incumbent secretary general, for his re-election.

Speaking about Nigeria’s commitment to the Union and postal services in the region, the minister said “Nigeria pioneered the introduction of several reforms that have galvanised the union into what many of us are proud of today.

“As a member of the Union’s Technical and Administrative Committee over the years, her inputs have shaped the development of the African Regional Plans which has been the blueprint for Africa in her quest to implement any of the Universal Postal Strategies over the years”.

PAPU’s re-elected assistant secretary general, joined the Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST, in July 1980. He rose from the management level to the directorate level and head of International Operations Department of NIPOST before he was elected in 2012.
