Chinese Company to cite Industrial City at Onitsha

A Chinese Company, Golden Promise Ltd., plans to cite an industrial city in the Onitsha area of Anambra.

The company incorporated with the China Construction Company, CCC, and Nigeria Inland Water Ways Authority was at Government House, Awka, to give that indication.

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra described the visit as “welcome development”.

According to him the state needs potential investors with capacity for infrastructure development.

Expressing government’s optimism of doing business with the company, the governor, who was represented by his deputy, Nkem Okeke, pointed out that the state had signed some of MoU that in the past that did not yield positive results.

He explained that the state had floated some institutions to help to facilitate its investment opportunities.

The governor directed the company to meet with the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, ANSIPPA.

The Governor also noted that Federal Government had upgraded some facilities at the Onitsha River Port as well as the dredging of River Niger to allow larger ship into the facility.

He stressed that the state would need massive power generation as well as construction of warehouses for large scale businesses.

“We have crude oil and gas reserves; what we need is the capacity to tap into these natural resources and generate electricity,’’ the governor said.

Introducing the group, Emeka Okoye, managing director, Anambra Road Maintenance Agency,  explained that the company would align with the current project around the Onitsha River Port.

“They have also expressed their intention to explore further investment opportunities in the state’’.

Okey Onyekwere, who led the Group to the state, said the global investment company’s visit to Anambra was necessarily to seek information and modalities on how to invest in projects in the state.

Sisley Yang, deputy manager, Golden Promise Ltd., said the company, which majored in infrastructure development, said they have interest in expanding their business operation to Onitsha in order to improve trade at the Onitsha Main Market.

Sisley also said the company would want to tap into the opportunity and bring its business to Anambra.

Bob Wang, executive manager, Golden Promise Ltd., pointed that the company had a shipping line that could carry on shipping business from China to Lagos.

He noted that Anambra could also benefit from such opportunities in business venture.

Uche Okafor, Anambra State Commissioner for Transport,  commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Christian Madubuko, the Commissioner for Housing, meka Ezinwanne witnessed the reception.
