Customs Niger Command Collects N115m as revenue in January – Comptroller

NIGERIA Customs Service (NCS), Niger Area Command, on Tuesday said it collected N115 million revenues in January.

The command’s Comptroller, Mr Benjamin Binga, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna.

The command, which comprised of Niger, Kogi and Kwara states, has N3.4 million revenue as its target, as directed by the headquarters.

He said that the command had introduced measures to meet the target through effective revenue generation.

Binga said that measures have been put in place to end all kinds of smuggling business in the area.

“We have identified and deployed armed personnel to tackle all kinds of illegal smuggling in our area of supervision.

“We have issued effective operational order to the officers in the field on how to prevent smuggling of prohibited goods at Babana and chikagan border posts,“ he said.

He called for the support of stakeholders; traditional and religious leaders to offer intelligence information that could assist the officers apprehend smugglers and boost revenue.

The comptroller called on officers and men of the command to continue to put in their best as hard work would be rewarded. (NAN)
