THE Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, ECCIMA, has extolled Anambra State presence and participation in the 30th Enugu International Trade Fair.
The fair took place at the Permanent Site, Trade Fair Complex, Golf Estate, GRA Enugu from April 5 to April15.
Emeka Udeze, the president, ECCIMA, noted that Anambra produced arrays of personalities known for industry and enterprise with immense contributions to National development.
Udeze commended Governor Willie Obiano for his laudable efforts at developing the state through the provision of infrastructure, security and stable business environment.
“The development strategy that has been adopted by Anambra State Government toward the holistic development of the state is quite impactful and commendable.’’
He noted that Anambra had received wide accolades from international organisations such as UNICEF, UNIDO and UNESCO.
He added: “the participation of the South East states in the Enugu International Trade Fair is important in consolidating efforts toward building common economic bloc and promoting investment opportunities within the corridor”.
Christian Madubuko, the Anambra commissioner for Trade and Commerce, commended Government’s consistent support toward participation in the fair.
Madubuko pointed out that in 2017 fair; Anambra recorded three awards for distinguished performances in three different categories.
The awards are the best state stand with SME innovative products, the packaged state pavilion on investment opportunities and the most dynamic participating state.
Madubuko said the state, through the Ministry of Trade and Commerce would work in concert with Consumer Protection Council to rid the state of unfit edible products.
This he explained was in line with Obiano’s emphasis on quality service delivery, stressing that the state would not be a dumping ground for substandard products.
Daniel Okoli, the permanent secretary, Anambra Ministry of Trade and Commerce, thanked the members of ECCIMA for gracing the Anambra Special Day at the fair.
He also commended the Anambra contingent for concerted efforts at organising exhibitors and other activities in the state pavilion.
The products displayed in Anambra pavilion include mineral deposits iron stone, kaolin/clay, bentonite, lignite, gypson, coal, sand stone and crude oil.
Others are the locally made gas cookers, ovens, pressure kerosene stove, pop-corn machine, pyroysis machine that converts plastic to petrol, potato battery cell that generates about 5 to 10 voltage/electricity current from potatoes and tomatoes.
Also in display are Anambra Rice, herbal mixtures, insecticides, car wash; garments of all sorts, shoes, caps, travelling bags and camping bed.
