CHRISTIAN Madubuko, commissioner for Industry, Trade and Commerce, has been commended for achieving some feat in recovery about N300 million within five months of assumption of office.

Peter Ibida, chairman, Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Commerce and Industry, made the commendation during an oversight function to the ministry by his committee.

The committee was in the ministry to oversee the disbursement and implementation of 2017 budget, as well as to know the progress made in implementation of the 2018 budget.

The lawmaker said that most of the committee members incidentally were members of finance and appropriation, which handle the budget.

He emphasised that in the course of appropriation, it was discovered that the ministry’s allocation was not disbursed and questioned the reason why only N9 million was released of N974 million budgeted for the ministry.

The chairman, then, urged the commissioner to pursue and get the amount appropriated to the ministry in order to build tangible projects, as legacy of the ministry in the state.

The commerce commissioner pleaded that the committee to ensure that good amount would be budgeted next year to enhance the execution of capital projects.

He said such projects will include expanding standardised international modern markets, encouraging industries to generate more employments for the youths, building integrated trade fair complex and other projects.

“We want to organise this year’s Trade Fair in such a way that it will become a landmark, different from what it has been in the past, so as to attract what is happening in oversees here,’’ the commissioner added.
