Learn vocational skills - Obiano’s wife urges women

Ebelechukwu Obiano, wife of Anambra State governor, has enjoined Anambra women to strive to learn vocational skills that will them to achieve better lives for their families.

Obiano said this when she visited Umueze Anam, Anambra West, Local Government Area, in continuation of her visit to all the 21 LGAs in the state.

She thanked the people of Anambra West for their support to Governor Willie Obiano administration.

The governor’s wife pledged that Obiano would continue to provide more dividends of democracy to Ndi Anambra.

She urged women especially, pregnant mothers to always visit government healthcare centres for antenatal and postnatal cares and learn vocational skills with which to support their husbands.

“Women should stop answering ‘Oliaku’ (consumer of wealth), but should rather learn skills that will change the narrative from `Oliaku to Okpataku’ (creator of wealth),’’ she added.

Loretta Nwabunwanne, the Transition Committee chairman, Anambra West, LGA, thanked Obiano for the visit.

He described the governor’s wife as a caring mother and praised her for her passion for the less privilege, widows and indigent children.

The chairman noted that government had brought meaningful development to Anambra West, LGA.

“Before this administration came in, there were lots of dilapidated structures in the LGA, but today all have been renovated.

“Presently, Anambra West is experiencing unprecedented development owing to the gesture of Governor Obiano,’’ he added.

Loretta Nwabunwanne, wife of the Transition Committee chairman, described the governor’s wife as a mother and philanthropist who had remained committed toward fulfilling various promises made to Ndi Anambra.

She assured the governor’s wife that all the empowerment programme established in the area were fully functional.

Nwabunwanne on behalf of the women and children in Anambra West, LGA thanked the governor’s wife for her motherly care and prayed for God’s guidance and protection on her and her family.

“Women and children of Anambra West will continue to support the administration,’’ she said.

People present at the event are member representing Victor Okoye, Anambra West LGA in the State House of Assembly and majority leader; and Ebele Obi, wife of state chairman, APGA.

Distribution of bags of rice to widows and less privileged as well as schools bags and exercise books to indigent children were part of the event.
