THE Management of the National Film and Video Censors Board, NFVCB, led by Patricia Bala, its director general, paid a courtesy visit to Umar Garba Danbatta, executive vice chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, on November 3, 2016 at the Commission’s Head Office in Abuja.

The DG thanked Danbatta for personally receiving them and spoke on avenues both agencies could collaborate on towards National Development. The meeting also discussed the harmful effects of uncontrolled content on the platforms of telecommunications operators.

In his response, the EVC stated that the Commission does not regulate content but only the platforms. The Act establishing the Commission does not allow it to regulate Content. “In as much as we cannot remove freedom from the young generation on the use of technology, we must ensure that we work together to tackle the disruptive effects of modern communication,” he said.

Danbatta thanked Bala and her team for the visit to the Commission. He also affirmed that the Commission is willing to work with its sister agencies towards providing better services for Nigerians and achieving the Commission’s 8-Point Agenda.
