National Merit Award Boosts Morale of FRSC

The morale of the Federal Road Safety Corps to perform better has been boosted by the National Productivity Awards given to Boboye Oyeyemi, its corps marshal by President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday

BOBOYE Oyeyemi, Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has assured Nigerians that FRSC is committed to delivering improved productivity, saying that the award of the National Productivity Order of Merit conferred on him is a morale booster that would propel him to greater productivity. He spoke on Thursday while receiving the award of the National Productivity Order of Merit conferred on him by President Muhammadu Buhari under the auspices of the National Productivity Centre, Abuja.

The Corps Marshal who was one of the eminent awardees of the 15TH National Productivity Day celebration, expressed gratitude to  Buhari for approving the award, stating that FRSC will more than before show improved productivity in traffic management, rescue operations and post crash care to bring succour to victims of road traffic crashes.

According to him, all that the FRSC has been doing fall within the provisions of its establishment Act, saying that the Corps would remain committed to creating safer road environment. “This award is a testimony to the contributions we have made to national productivity, and is well appreciated,” he stated.

“Let me assure Nigerians that with this recognition, Nigerians should expect improved productivity from the FRSC in our commitment to saving more lives and creating greater sanity on the nation’s highways.

“I am grateful to Mr President for approving the conferment of the award on me, and I appreciate the National Productivity Centre for reckoning with the contributions we have made to national productivity.

“I assure every Nigerian that FRSC would not relent in its commitment to creating safer road environment and making the roads free of obstruction in line with our mandate,”  Oyeyemi further stated

The organisers in the citation read before the conferment of the merit award on him stated that Oyeyemi was a product of the Polytechnic, Ibadan; University of Lagos, Harvard University, USA; Royal Institute for Public Administration, London and the prestigious National Institute For Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPPS, Kuru, Jos. He also attended various courses within and outside the country including the Police Training Division, Sufferem, New York, Glock Armourers and Fire arm Safety Course, England; among several.

In the course of his services at the FRSC, Oyeyemi has held different operational and administrative positions including Zonal Commanding Officer, Zone 4 Headquarters, Lagos; Zone 3 Yola; Zone 9, Sokoto and had headed all the departments in the FRSC where he performed excellently. “A man  destined for greatness, Oyeyemi has held diverse appointments covering operations, Motor Vehicle Administration; Planning, Research and Statistics at higher echelon of the Corps since 1999,” the citation reads.

“This road traffic administration and safety management expert is working assiduously to make the Federal Road Safety Corps a model. This is more so because his numerous achievements which also included the Best Performing Head of Department from 2009 to 2013 among other considerations resulted in his appointment as the Corps Marshal and Chief Executive,” it said.

A member of the Order of the Federal Republic, MFR, in 2006, Oyeyemi, is a member of several Nigerian and international organisations, institutes and professional bodies including Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Administration, CIA, and Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals, NISP, among others.

While congratulating the awardees for contributing to national productivity, Buhari who was represented at the occasion by Clement lloh, permanent secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, stated that the federal government would soon launch National Productivity Movement to raise awareness on issues of national productivity. He also directed ministries, departments and agencies of the government to set up productivity and efficiency unit to give impetus to productivity.

Among those that received the merit awards for various contributions to productivity were Engineer Sale Dunoma of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Uwemedimo Edet Asomugha of the federal ministry of Education and Marcus Danladi of the Nigeria Police Force
