CHINEYE Udeh, Managing Director, Smart Kids Zone, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), on Friday said the organization was partnering Access Bank to promote financial literacy among students.

Udeh said this in Abuja when she led a delegation from the NGO and officials of Access Bank to selected secondary schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on financial literacy campaign.

The schools included Britarch School, Lugbe; Great Height Academy, Kado; Treasure House Montessorri School, Asokoro and Grace Garden International School, Garki.

Udeh said that the campaign was in commemoration of the 2018 Global Money Week, an initiative of the Child and Youth Finance International.

According to her, the campaign is targeted at educating students on how to earn, save and invest money to become entrepreneurs.

“As children, they understand what money is all about because they are in an environment where they see how money transactions are made.

“Some of them follow their parents to banks and markets, so, they see how money transactions are made.

“It is important to educate them early enough on how money is made, spent and how they can save and invest,” Udeh said.

She called on parents to key into the campaign to ensure that children were educated on the need to imbibe savings culture.

Product Manager, Access Bank, Miss Olatilewa Akinpelu, said that the campaign was to encourage saving culture among students through the formation of “Early Savers Clubs” in schools.

She said that the objective was to teach the students how to earn, save, invest and spend money wisely.

Akinpelu said that the idea was to ensure total child development. (NAN)
