The Nigerian Capital Development Fund, NCDF, has launched its latest residential project MyHome Scheme. The launch is a direct campaign geared towards sensitising Nigerians of their rights to home ownership through the private affordable ownership housing programme created to complement the effort of government in providing decent and affordable homes to low and middle-income earners in Nigeria.

It is designed that 5,000 homes will be built in five years across the country under the scheme in partnership with government, development partners, impact investors and the private sector to home buyers from as low as N4,918,300 to N14,385,000. Buyers need not worry about high interest rates noting that this is non commercial, just as young people are not denied the opportunity, as this may be the right retirement plan, considering the payback period.

The scheme provides individually tailored payment plan in partnership with government to home-buyers which allows repayment up to 25 years. In addressing the 17 Million Housing Units deficit in Nigeria. Hareter Babatunde Oralusi, the chief executive officer, said: “Two thousand houses will be delivered in the first phase at Mowe, Ofada, Ibeju Lekki and Kuje, Abuja where the pilot schemes have been completed.

“The idea is simple; we want to provide is decent and affordable homes, with home finance, home buyer education workshops, financial incentives opportunities and technical assistance to everyone interested.”

It is also interesting to note that buyer’s preferences can be implemented asides from the designed plan; some of these planned structural provisions are:  One Bedroom Semi-Detached Bungalow, Two Bedroom Semi-Detached Bungalow, Three Bedroom Semi-Detached Bungalow, Two Bedroom Flat, Three Bedroom Flat, Three Bedroom Terrace Duplex, and Four Bedroom Terrace Duplex.

Without a doubt, the scheme’ support system and mission to target mixed income levels becomes conspicuous through its easy application process. The information for the scheme is available online at www.ncdf.org.ng , same as application forms.

The NCDF is a social investment institution, a mission entrepreneurial entity. With a mandate to create opportunities for people to own and live in affordable homes, improve their lives and strengthen their communities.
