Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State is now the new chairman of the Security and Exchange Commission
PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan has appointed Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State, as the new chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC. Also, Mounir Haliru Gwarzo has been confirmed as the new director-general, DG, of SEC. Gwarzo, has been acting as the SEC DG since Arunma Oteh completed her tenure last year.
Reuben Abati, special adviser to the President Jonathan on media & publicity, stated in a statement issued on Monday, April 27, in Abuja, that the appointment takes immediate effect.
Abati also announced the sack of Femi Thomas, executive secretary and chief executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS. Olufemi A. Akingbade replaced Thomas in acting capacity. Akingbade who hails from Ekiti State and holds a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science as well as a Masters in Business Administration, was the general manager, ICT in the NHIS until his new appointment, Abati said.
