A real estate expert, Mr Peter Bamkole, has called on all tiers of governments to make consistent polices to boost Private and Public Partnership (PPP) in the building sector

Bamkole, Chairman of Real Estate Unite, a forum for stakeholders in the real estate industry, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos that governments should also protect the property rights of individual and developers in the country.

Real estate is “property consisting of land and the buildings on it, along with its natural resources such as crops, minerals or water; immovable property of this nature; an interest vested in this an item of real property, buildings or housing in general’’.

He said that it was time the stakeholders, including builders, estate agents and developers embraced the changes in methods, especially in the technology used to drive construction.

NAN reports that Real Estate Unite is a yearly flagship that provides an important platform for all sectors of Africa’s property industry to network, learn, transact, showcase and discuss opportunities and issues in global real estate yearly.

“’The PPP has suffered in the country due to the inconsistency in policy in the country, there is need for us to agree and track the economic dynamism and advocate for policies that will address the many challenges inhibiting the lucrative sector from reaching its full potential.

“There has to be a collaboration between the old ways of doing things and the new approach, weather we like it or not, all stakeholder in the industry must work together and look for a joint solution for all the problems faced in the sector,’’ he said.

Bamkole said the forum had made progress in the last seven years using town hall meeting approach to hear the voices of those who need to be heard and unlocking a number of the bottlenecks stifling the real estate sector in Nigeria.

The chairman said the objective of the Real Estate Unite was to ensure that everyone had shelter and to do things efficiently, using the latest technology such as blockchain, which are technology to assist the connect and make the real estate sector to succeed.

Bamkole said that with latest technology, it would make it easier for stakeholders to achieve more in the sector. (NAN)
