TROOPS of the 121 Task Force Battalion in Pulka, Borno State, on Sunday, November 27, killed 30 suspected insurgents as they attempted to ambush a convoy of Gwoza Local Government officials.

The insurgents detonated an Improvised Explosive Device, IED, and began shooting, but they were repelled by troops escorting the officials.

Saeed Salisu Sambo, caretaker committee chairman of Gwoza, who was in the convoy, praised the troops for their prompt response. He said no life was lost.

“I praise the gallantry of the troops, led by Patrol Commanders of the 121BN, Captain S. Suleiman and Lt. N. Ayuba,” he said.

Some soldiers were injured in the encounter and are receiving treatment at the Maimalari Barracks Hospital.
