GOV. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara has lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for introducing the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS), saying it has eased the voting process.
Matawalle lauded the commission shortly after casting his vote at his Polling Unit 012 at Danfili Buga-Buga Primary School, Maradun South Ward, Maradun LGA.
The Governor, who was accredited within a few seconds on arrival, said the process was now faster and smoother.
He commended the electorate across the state for their massive turnout to vote in the Presidential and National Assembly polls.
Matawalle also commended the peaceful conduct of the electorate, mostly women and the youth who trooped out to exercise their civic responsibility.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that accreditation of voters for the elections in the area began at 10:15am.
The election exercise began behind schedule following the late arrival of election materials to the locality, which is about less than 100 kms from Gusau, the state capital.
Maradun is the country home of the governor and part of Zamfara west senatorial district.
Hundreds of voters had stayed in queues waiting for the arrival of voting materials and the Polling Officers at the Polling Unit 012.
NAN reports that personnel of the Nigeria Police and other security agencies were on ground at various polling units visited in the locality.
