A 33-year-old woman, Jessica Anwal, on Tuesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing her company’s N2.5 million.

The defendant, who is a cashier and resides at 10, Ore off drive, Gasline, Ijoko, Ogun State was tried for stealing to which she pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem told the court that the offence was committed between May to September 2020 at Westgate Life Care Limited, Olowora, Ogba, Lagos.

Akeem alleged that the sum of N2.5 million was missing when the account was audited.

“The defendant who is in charge could not give a satisfactory account on how the money was spent, hence, she was arrested,” he said.

Akeem said that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O .l Adelaja granted the defendant bail of N1 million with two sureties in like sum. Adelaja adjourned the case until Nov. 11 for mention. (NAN)
