Chigbo, others inducted into MELPAN

NWAMAKA Mediatrix Chigbo, an Abuja-based lawyer and others have been inducted into the Medical Law Professionals Association of Nigeria, MELPAN.

The event which took place during the Annual Conference of Medical Law Professionals Association held November 29, at the Judicial Institute, Abuja, was chaired by Mike Ozhekhome, SAN.

Ozhekhome, while speaking on the theme of the conference, ” Healthcare system in Nigeria: Getting the Government to be more Responsive under the Law”, charged the newly inducted members to be more proactive in pursuing and advancing the aims for which the MELPAN and the Institute stands for.

According to him, they must work to advance the medico-legal jurisprudence, legislation, policies, ethics, and development in medicine, healthcare and related fields, work for peace and help citizens assert, defend and enforce their medical and health rights among others.

The conference also featured the unveiling of the Institute of Medical and Health Law in the full glare of notable legal professionals and experts including the renowned Professor Uwakwe Abugu, Chairman of the Board of trustees, founder and arrowhead and President of the MELPAN Medical Law and Ethics.
