China, India in close communication after deaths at border
Foreign
CHINA and India on Wednesday said they were in close communication to resolve a deadly flare-up in border tensions, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
According to the ministry’s spokesman, Zhao Lijian, the incident occurred on the Chinese-run side of the line of actual control, the two countries’ de facto border.
Lijian, however, denied any responsibility on the Chinese side and would neither confirm nor deny reports of Chinese casualties in the confrontation, in which at least 20 Indian soldiers were killed.
The spokesman said the overall situation was stable and that both sides were jointly resolving the issue. (dpa/NAN)
