THE General Overseer (G O) of the Calvary Christian Church Lagos, Archbishop Joseph Ojo, on Friday said that churches ought to positively impact society to remain relevant.

Ojo, a former leader of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), made the statement while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) in Lagos.

The Gospel preacher said impacting the society through the Gospel and its works was essential to bring people back to God.

The Archbishop spoke on the cardinal objectives of the Church to the society, adding that there was need to revive the missionary spirit of the Church as it was in the early Church to aid the masses grow spiritually and materially to better human development.

According to him, there are areas the state lag behind in the society because government cannot do it alone.

“The Church, as a stakeholder in the society, should through its missionary works complement the government to improve people’s welfare that will bring peace and order in the society.

“Our world today needs all hands to be on deck to reform it to the glory of God and comfort of the people.

“Our youth seems to lack role models to emulate the Church through its works, to create avenues through which this lack can be solved.

“Involving the youth in voluntary services to the society fosters sense of responsibility and patriotism in the younger persons,” he said.

The church leader described youths as the hinge on which the growth of the society rested and called for their greater participation in the 2023 general election to choose good leaders.(NAN)
