THE Venerable in Charge of Ukpo Archdeaconry and Vicar of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Ukpo in Anambra State, Ven. Shalom Ginika, says circumcision of the heart is more important to God.

Ven. Ginika said this during the New Year service held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Ukpo.

In his sermon, he maintained that New Year signified two important things, which are circumcision and naming.

New Year marks the eight-day of the birth of Christ Jesus, which accompanied his circumcision and naming.

The cleric emphasised that our names are tied to circumcision and enjoined every Christian to practicalise his name by living a life of the person we bear their names.

“Do our names worth our lifestyle? Do our names represent Christ? Are we sure that our lives have been transformed?,’’ Ven. Ginika asked.

Ginika emphasised that circumcision is a covenant that God has with his children. “That had been how God kept us,” he said.

He stressed the need to purge our hearts from every evil work as circumcision is the removal of evil things from our hearts.

The cleric enjoined all to allow the Holy Spirit to enter into our lives for the entry of the Lord giveth life.

He enjoined the congregation to stop living like gentiles in the past.

“Mortify the flesh and put on Christ as children of circumcision,’’ he said, urging them to make peace with God if they have not already done so.
