Mr Patrick Ukah, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in Delta, has called on corporate organisations to complement the state government’s developmental projects through their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.

Ukah made the call on Saturday while receiving 50,000 facemasks donated to the ministry by Mikano International Ltd. for distribution to public schools in the state.

The commissioner, who lauded the donor for the gesture, said that the initiative was worthy of emulation.

“Delta State did a lot to ensure that children in public schools were protected from contacting COVID-19, and there is still need for support from the corporate organisations,” he said.

Ukah, while assuring the donors of even distribution of the facemasks to students, said that since the outbreak of COVID-19, schools in the state had not recorded any case of the virus.

Also, Mr Jike-Wai Ogborun, the Administrative Manager of Mikano, said that they were in the state to present facemasks to the state government for distribution to the schools.

Ogborun said that the initiative was part of the company’s social responsibility.

She said that the company had been at the forefront in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

According to her, Delta is among the eleven states the company is covering from the Port Harcourt area office. (NAN)
