THE Management of Dalhatu Specialist Hospital (DASH), Lafia, has commended the Joint Union of Health Workers in the hospital for suspending its strike action.

Mrs. Deborah Dangara, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the hospital gave the commendation on Tuesday in Lafia.

According to her, the decision of the union to suspend the strike will further strengthen the efforts to contain the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19), and other diseases in the state.

She added that the decision would enable the health professional to attend to infected persons who were currently taking treatment at the various treatment centres.

Dangara said that the management of the hospital had been enforcing the compulsory use of face masks within the hospital premises.

She added that it had also provided running water with soap, and hand sanitisers at strategic locations to contain further spread of the virus.

“The management has also put measures in place to ensure there is no clustering of patients at pay points, laboratories, and reception areas in line with COVID-19 protocol set by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC),” she said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the joint Union at the hospital had begun the strike on May 9, over welfare issues.

Those involved were: National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), among others.

However, it suspended the strike on July 8, after negotiating with the government. (NAN)
