Lockdown: Lawmaker disburses N20m to 1,000 households in Niger

JAFARU Mohammed, Member representing Borgu/Agwara Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has disbursed N20 million to 1,000 households in Borgu and Agwara Local Government Areas of the state.

Alhaji Haliru Babangida, Senior Legislative Aide to Mohammed disclosed this on Monday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Borgu.

“The money was donated to cushion the effect of the Coronavirus lockdown among our people and also to take care of them during the Ramadan,” he said.

He said that each of the 500 recipients in the ten wards of Borgu local government got N20, 000 during the exercise carried out on Sunday in the area.

Babangida noted that the exercise also took place in Agwara Local Government Area on Thursday where 500 persons benefitted from another N10 million gesture.

The senior legislative aide said that the lawmaker was committed to providing more dividends of democracy to the people in order to improve their living standards.

He said that the gesture would go a long way in complementing the efforts of the state government in providing succour to the people due to the stay at home order by the government.

The legislative aide appealed to the people of the area to continue to obey government precautionary measures in the fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Responding, some of the beneficiaries from Senior Camp in New Bussa quarters; Hajiya Bilkisu Abdullahi and Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi thanked the lawmaker for the gesture and prayed God to reward him abundantly. (NAN)
