Court remands sales rep for allegedly swindling employer of N41,000

A Grade I Area Court, Dei-dei, Abuja ordered that a 21-year-old sales representative, James Okorie be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly swindling his employer of  N41,500.

The Judge, Sulyman Ola who gave the order, adjourned the matter until Nov. 29 for hearing.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogada told the court that the complainant, Tony Chinedu reported the matter at the Gwarinpa Police Station on Sept. 15.

Ogada said that Okorie, a sales representative at the complainant’s wife’s shop, sold duvets worth N92, 000 and withdrew N41, 500 from her Point of Sale(POS) machine.

He said that the defendant who converted the money to his personal use, committed the offense on Sept.10 and 15.

The prosecution counsel said that the offence contravened the provisions of Section 289 of the Penal Code.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. (NAN)
