Court remands teenager for unlawfully being in possession of firearms

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, on Monday, ordered that Smith Obi,  19, be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly being in possession of firearms.

Chief Magistrate O. A. Layinka, who did not take the plea of Obi, ordered the prosecution to send the case file to the Lagos State Department of Public Prosecution, (DPP) for legal advice. Layinka adjourned the case until Dec. 21 for a hearing.

Earlier, the police prosecutor, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde alleged that Obi was arrested with one brownie pistol with one live ammunition.

Ayorinde told the court that Obi committed the offence on Oct. 1 about 4.30 p.m. on Sabo Street, Agege, a Lagos suburb. (NAN)
