Court sentences domestic staff to 1 imprisonment for stealing jewellery

AN Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan on Friday, sentenced a domestic worker,  Toyosi Adeniyi to one-year imprisonment for stealing jewellery worth N150, 000.

Magistrate Mercy Amole-Ajimoti, sentenced Adeniyi, after he pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiracy, theft and trespass.

Amole-Ajimoti did not give the convict an option to pay a fine.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Sgt. Philip Amusan told the court that Adeniyi and others, at large, conspired together to commit the offence.

Amusan said that the convict stole an HP Laptop worth N130,000, children’s clothes valued N20, 000, and five different Automated Teller Machine cards (ATM) on Feb. 19, in  Quarter 476B, Government Residential Area, Agodi, Ibadan.

Amusan said the offence contravened the previsions of Section 383 and punishable under sections 390 (9), 411 (1) and 516 of the Criminal Code of Oyo State 2000 (NAN)
