COVID-19: Foundation donates PPE to General Hospital in Badagry

AN NGO, Friends from Cradle Foundation, on Wednesday donated some Personal Protective Equipment to the General Hospital in Badagry to assist health workers in the hospital.

Its President, Dr Michael Kunnuji, presenting the equipment, said it was a way of assisting the frontline health workers in the hospital to protect themselves against infection.

“We are here today to extend our hands of fellowship to the management of Badagry General Hospital in the area of PPE provisions to assist the workers, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have decided to contribute our widow’s mite to provide this equipment in order to assist the workers here to further reduce the spreading of COVID-19 pandemic.

“We have decided to differ all odds to come down to Badagry because this is the cradle of civilisation,” he said.

Kunnuji said that the equipment includes 10 packs of 95 face masks, 20 packs of hand gloves, and five pieces of face shields.

The president said the foundation was ready to partner with the hospital to assist in the area of providing necessary equipment to ensure prompt attention to patients.

Also, Dr Olatunde Bakare, the Deputy General Manager of the hospital, receiving the materials, on behalf of the General Manager, said the materials were presented at the right time.

According to Bakare, the management of the hospital was delighted to receive the equipment from the foundation.

“I have waited for a day like this to see some indigenes of Badagy extending hands of help to us here at the hospital.

“The progress I witnessed at the Alimosho General Hospital can also be replicated here if more philanthropists can extend their hands of assistance to the hospital.

“As small as this hospital is, it is covering the whole town of Badagry to Festac and even, people from Cotonou patronise us.

“If you go to General Hospital in Alimosho, many infrastructure these were donated by individuals, and I want people in Badagry to reciprocate it,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that members of the foundation were taken round the hospital for inspection to see where they could further assist.

NAN also reports that other members of the foundation are Prince Doheto Mesi, Vice-Chairman; Mr. Sewedo Nupowa, Secretary-General. (NAN)
