THE Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Monday cancelled the inauguration of its National Traffic Radio 107.1 FM due to the ‘coronavirus pandemic’.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was slated to take place at the FRSC headquarters, Abuja.

NAN correspondent observes the presence of medical personnel ensuring the usage of provided hand sanitisers and other medial first aids.

NAN reports that the inauguration of the National Traffic Radio was part of efforts to educate the public on safe road usage towards eradicating road traffic crashes (RTC) and creating safe motoring environment in Nigeria.

“This is in line with its establishment mandate. The veritable platform is intended to inculcate safety consciousness among the Nigeria populace.

“To also serve as a feedback mechanism that will assist the Corps enunciating proactive and result-oriented strategies to addressing the ever-evolving traffic challenges in the country.”

The programme was to host Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as the special guest of honour among other dignitaries who have demonstrated uncommon passion and commitment in the propagation of road safety ideals in the country. (NAN)
