David Maiyaki, a lawmaker representing Karu/Gitata at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly has distributed food items and N300,000 cash to the people of his constituency to cushion the effect of COVID-19 lockdown.
Maiyaki, represented by his Special Assistant Mr Philip Viyilo while distributing the items on Monday in Karu urged the beneficiaries to utilise them to improve their living standard and that of their families.
He said that the gesture was aimed at assisting the less privileged in the society towards cushioning the effect of COVID-19 lockdown.
The lawmaker called on Nigerians to respect the stay at home order by observing social distancing and other preventive measures in order to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.
He assured the people of his constituency of quality and sound representation in order to provide more dividends of democracy to them.
Mr Mustapha Sani, the Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Karu Local Government Area(LGA), commended the lawmaker for the gesture.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Karu Zone, Pastor Felix Ogawniye, appreciated the lawmaker for the gesture and prayed God to reward him abundantly.
Items distributed included 100 bags of 25Kg rice, 70 bags of beans, 70 bags of maize and N300, 000 cash. (NAN)
