NESTLÉ Nigeria Plc has donated food and beverages worth N32 million to support the COVID-19 palliative efforts of the Ondo State Government.

Mr. Mauricio Alarcon, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, delivered the items to Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in Akure on Tuesday.

Alarcon, who was represented by the Southwest branch Manager, Mr Boladale Odunlami, said the gesture was to support the state government in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the donation was part of the company’s contribution of over N700 million, made up of its products and cash, toward the national response efforts led by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19.

He said the company was hopeful that the foods and beverages would help provide necessary nutrients to those who needed them this period.

Receiving the items, Akeredolu thanked Nestlé Nigeria for the generous donation and for thinking about the people of Ondo State during the challenging times.

“Palliatives have its own nutritional content, the nutritional content is high, the water you added will surely be sent to hospitals, to avoid patients drinking contaminated one.

“I am sure that some of this nutrient, lots of vitamins will come from it which will boost immunity to fight against COVID-19,’’ the governor said.

Contents of the palliative donated are bottled water, Maggi, beverage and golden more among others. (NAN)
