Coronavirus Pandemic
Gateway Grassroots Development Association, an NGO, in collaboration with Great Scholars International School, Sagamu, has commenced distribution of foodstuff to residents of Sagamu, Osun State.
The association said the gesture was geared towards complementing government’s efforts at mitigating the impact of the lock-down following the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), outbreak.
Ms Ebun Shoda, coordinator of the association, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Sunday in Abuja, that the distribution of food stuff would continue throughout the period of lock-down.
“’This is also our own little way of supporting government’s efforts in the fight against COVID-19, that has continued to ravage the world.
“’The food items are being contributed by friends and individuals with kind hearts, to assist the needy.
“’The items will only be given at the grassroots to the vulnerable, homeless and indigent beggars,” Shoda, who disclosed that the programme had been tagged: `Food Bank’, said.
She therefore, called on Nigerians to comply with the Stay at Home and Stay Safe directives to curb the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus.
The coordinator further advised Nigerians to adhere to the social distancing, washing of hands regularly, and no touching of face rules, for healthy living and fight against spread of COVID-19.
NAN reports that as at the night of Saturday, April 4, Nigeria has recorded 214 cases with four deaths. (NAN)
