COVID-19 Vaccination: Bauchi Govt urges traditional, religious leaders to lead mobilisation

THE Bauchi State Government has enjoined traditional rulers and religious leaders to lead mobilisation efforts for COVID-19 vaccination acceptance.

Alhaji Baba Tela, the Deputy Governor of the star and Chairman Taskforce on Primary Health Care (PHC), made the call at presentation of award to the best PHC on Monday in Bauchi.

He said the traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders should take the lead in mobilising citizens to accept the COVID-19 vaccine.

“I urge all traditional and religious leaders to take the lead in the mobilisation effort within their domains and spheres of influence.

“The vaccine offers hope for a safe state, towns, villages and domains free of coronavirus.

“All eligible citizens of the state to present themselves and be vaccinated in accordance with the order of priority already mapped out, at the various authorised designated centres only,” he said.

Earlier, Alhaji Usman Othman, the Emir of Dass and Co-chair of the taskforce, said the state has given priority on health care delivery.

He therefore urged citizens to accept COVID-19 vaccines, saying they would lead in mobilisation of people in their respective domains as traditional rulers.

On his part, Alhaji Yusuf Garba, the Chairman, Alkaleri Local Government Council, also assured the state government of mobilising people on the need to accept the vaccine.

He said his local government doesn’t compromise health care service delivery to the people at the grassroots.

Garba alsou pledged collaborative effort to ensure equal access of healthcare delivery to relief the poor in rural communities.
