TWO men, Taofik Isiaka and Saheed AbdulRazak, have appeared before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Minna for alleged assault.

The duo were charged with conspiracy, assault and causing grievous hurt, contrary to Sections 97, 265 and 245 of the penal code law respectively.

The police prosecutor, ASP Daniel Ikwoche, had told the court that the complainant, Ezekiel Amodu, reported the matter at the Kpakungu Station on Nov. 6.

Ikwoche said the complainant alleged that he was in a commercial tricycle together with the defendants, who started insulting him without any provocation.

He said the complainant was trying to respond to the insults when the defendants hit him with a bottle, thereby inflicting injury on him.

The defendants pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, thereafter, prayed the court for adjournment as investigation into the matter was still ongoing.

In her ruling, Magistrate Hauwa Yusuf, granted a N100,000 bail to each of the defendants and a surety each in like sum.

Yusuf adjourned the matter until Dec. 2 for further mention.
