Williams, whose residential address was not provided, was arraigned on a count charge of stealing the phone from a car belonging to one Evans Ero.

The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Kenrich Nomayo, said that the defendant unlawfully entered Ero’s car and stole the iPhone.

Nomayo told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 5 about 5.30 p.m.at Omole Phase 1 Estate at Ikeja.

“The defendant entered the complainant’s car and stole the iPhone, all attempts made to recover the phone from him was futile.

“The offence contravenes Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015, which states that stealing carries three years jail term for offenders,” the prosecutor said.

The Chief Magistrate Mrs T.A. Ojo, however, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N70, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Ojo said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
