ONE Akeem Azeez shocked many people present in court on Friday during his trial when he openly expressed regrets at his inability to successfully burgle a building before he was caught.

The 20-year-old Azeez was standing trial alongside 24-year-old Omisakin Sunday for an attempt to steal.

The two suspects, who had been convicted for undisclosed crime and served jail terms in the past, were arraigned before Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara on three counts of felony, unlawful entry and forceful removal of burglar-proof bars.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charges.

The police prosecutor, Rasak Olayiwola, had earlier told the court that the two men had on January 17, 2019, around 11.30am at No. 23 Ayegun Street, Iludun, Osogbo, conspired among themselves to commit felony in the house of one Alhaji Rasaq Okunade.

The police prosecutor said the suspects were caught before they could execute their plans.

In his ruling, Magistrate Ayilara ordered the accused to be remanded in police custody and adjourned the matter till February 13, 2019, for the presentation of facts.

Immediately the magistrate gave the remand order, one of the accused, Azeez, said to the hearing of many people present in court that he regretted his failure to steal before he was arrested, saying he would be punished despite the fact that he failed to accomplish his aim. – Punch
