Police arraign man, 27 in court for alleged N1.2m fraud

THE police in Ado-Ekiti, on Friday, arraigned a 27-year-old sales representative, Daramola Temitope for allegedly defrauding his employer N1.2 million.

Temitope, whose address was not provided, is facing one-charge count of fraud before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, although, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Insp Caleb Leranmo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Dec. 3 at Ekute Quarters in Ado-Ekiti.

Leranmo said that the defendant stole the money belonging to Cadbury Nigeria in Mofad Stores Nig. Ltd.

He said the defendant converted the money from the goods he sold to his personal use without the consent of the complainant.

Leranmo said the offence contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2012.

The prosecutor urged  the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.

The defence counsel, Mr Stephen Olumuagun, urged the court to grant his client bail on liberal terms, promising  that he would not jump bail.

The chief magistrate, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Lawal, who said that the sureties must be civil servants, adjourned the case until Jan. 30 for mention. (NAN)
