Police arrest suspects for vote buying, selling in Osun State gubernatorial election

The Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of three suspects involved in buying and selling of votes in the last Saturday, September 22, gubernatorial election held in Osun State. The first two suspects caught in the act of vote buying and selling namely are Muriat Olalekan, 61, and Hamzat Muniru, 65. They were found with a sum of N604,000.00.  only was recovered from their possession.

The third person Adeagbo Wasiu, described as a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain of ward 8 unit 9 Fiwasaye Area Osogbo was allegedly arrested for vote buying. Police said he was searched and the sum of N116,000 was recovered from him.

“Investigations into the cases are ongoing and suspects will be arraigned in court on completion of investigation,” a statement signed by Jimoh Moshood, a deputy commissioner of Police and the PPRO, said.
