BRIG.-Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, Director General of National Youth Service Corps, has urged Corps members to sustain credibility of election process when involved in 2019 general election and beyond.

Kazaure made the call on Monday when he visited 2018 Batch C, Stream 1, Corp members in Wamakko orientation camp in Sokoto state.

The DG represented by Deputy Director, Evaluation, Mrs Victoria Ango, said Corp members involvement in election process had added credible value to the system.

“The effort had attracted wide commendation to the commission and L urge Corp members that voluntarily wish to participate, to sustain it.

“l call on Corp members to be non-partisan in all respect and ensure objectivity in all form. Some selfish politicians might approach you for bad deals, please, shun all such adversaries.

“The scheme has four cardinal objectives which started from orientation, posting for primary assignment, community development projects and passing out.

“The skill acquisition training is incorporated to enhance Corp members’ productivity in recognition of the economic situation and facilitating job creation in the country,’’ she said.

She called on them to understand peoples’ cultures and ensure more commitment to skills training, which will be beneficial to them in future.

The DG warned Corp members against unauthorized journeys and urged them to be patient till after service, unless when it’s absolutely necessary.

In his remarks, the Sokoto State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr Philip Enaberue, said a total of 2, 089 Corps members were registered in the camp out of which 1, 047 are males while 1, 042 are females.

Enaberue said all orientation guidelines were being adhered to, Corps members are disciplined and all camp leaders were also cooperative.

He said the camp faced security challenges due to low perimeter fence which allowed cases of thefts, especially when Corps members are busy.

The coordinator commended Sokoto state government for the payment of state allowance and support in improving camp facilities.

The DG inaugurated boreholes to enhance water supply in the orientation camp, inspected camp hostels, clinic, kitchen, field and addressed Corps members after parade.
