The Nigerian Army says troops of the 120 Battalion deployed in Operation Lafiya Dole have foiled an attempt by Boko Haram insurgents on one of their locations in Yobe State.

In a statement on Thursday, Army spokesman Brigadier General Texas Chukwu revealed that the incident occurred at the military location at Katarko in Gujba Local Government Area of the state.

He explained that following a tip-off, the soldiers immediately swung into action and were able to push the terrorists backwards with their superior firepower.

However, some members of the terrorist group were said to have escaped into nearby bushes with troops on their trail.

Brigadier General Chukwu asked the residents of the state and Katarko, in particular, to go about their legitimate businesses.

He also urged them to report any suspicious activities or movement in their area to the law enforcement agents.
