Tukur Buaratai, the chief of army staff, has congratulated the Nigerian Army Team for emerging the overall first and third positions at the third edition of the West African Military Semi-Marathon Tournament, which took place in Niamey, Niger Republic.

While the female team emerged the overall first, the men’s team won the third position at the event, which took place on Saturday, February 16, 2019.

The Semi- Marathon Event, which was organised by the Niger Republic Defence Headquarters in conjunction with the West African Military Sports Organisation, featured male and female participants.

According to Sagir Musa, acting director, army public relations, the event was organised in the spirit of building friendship amongst the militaries of the West African Sub – Region.

Musa said the Nigerian Army was at the marathon to represent the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
