THE National Human Right Commission (NHRC) has established an office in Jigawa with a view to bringing the activities of the commission closer to People of the state.

Mr Aminu Inuwa, the Coordinator of the commission in the state disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Monday.

He said the office would bring human rights protection closer to People of the state.

Inuwa said the office, which was recently opened, would serve people of the state better in terms of human rights protection.

“The Jigawa state office was opened on February 1, 2019 so that we can be close to the people of the state, particularly those at the grassroots in terms of any violation of their fundamental human rights.

“It is to ensure that their rights are protected as stated in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and other regional and international instruments, in which Nigeria is a party.

“Anyone whose right is violated can walk down to our office or contact us through our email or helpline (nhrcjigawastate@gmail.com/09052651892).

“And as soon as we receive his/her complaint, we can also invite him/her for further clarification,” Inuwa said.

He added that the commission has already embarked on courtesy visit to relevant organizations and agencies in the state to establish contracts with a view to building good working relationship.

The state coordinator further stated that the office had also written to the state Ministry of Education, seeking its permission to embark on schools visit across the state.

He said the visit would give the commission the opportunity to sensitize students on its operations.
