Delta Assembly assures sustained synergy with stakeholders in health sector

THE Delta House of Assembly Committee on Health has assured sustained synergy with stakeholders in the health sector.

The Chairman of the committee, Austin Uroye, gave the assurance when the management team of the state’s Ministry of Health and heads of parastatals under its supervision appeared before the committee for the 2023 budget defence on Thursday in Asaba.

Uroye said that partnership with the Ministry, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, under the purview of the committee had enhanced performance in the health sector.

He also assured the officials that the committee would examine the details of the proposed recurrent and capital expenditure submitted to it by the various bodies.

The lawmaker, representing Warri South 1 Constituency, also said there was need to make adequate budgetary provisions for areas with critical needs in the sector.

Meanwhile, the Chief Medical Director of Delta State Teaching Hospital, Oghara, Dr Onome Ogueh, had appealed for upward review of the subvention of the institution.

The MDA heads who attended the budget defence included officials of the College of Health Technology, Ofuoma, Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara, Schools of Nursing and Midwifery, State Contributory Health Commission and Drug Revolving Fund management.

Others were Traditional Medicine Board, Delta State Hospital Management Board, Primary Health Care Development Agency, State Agency for HIV/AIDS, SACA, Asaba Specialist Hospital and the Ministry of Health. (NAN).
