DELTA Deputy Gov. Mr Kingsley Otuaro has assured youths in agriculture of the state government’s support to boost their activities and returns on investment.

Otuaro gave the assurance when he visited the Flourish-Bentam Agro-fish Farm, Nigeria Ltd., Okpuku Aragba, Ekpan in Uvwie Local Government Area of state in a statement from the State Ministry of Information on Tuesday in Asaba.

The deputy governor said the government would not watch the youths remain idle instead of being encouraged in productive ventures to fend for themselves and families.

Otuaro, who was conducted round the fishing cluster by Mr Felix Mutu, the Chief Executive Officer of the farm, said he was glad to see the good works of the young man who had taken the initiative of the state government to fend for himself and employed many youths.

He cautioned youths and the unemployed in the communities, streets and cities across the nation looking for jobs to revert to agriculture to provide for themselves and the families.

“From what we have seen here today, we are very excited. Like the commissioner for agriculture said, this initiative merits our support.

“And supporting this well-intended, hardworking gentleman as we have seen it is going to be encouraging and that will stand as an example to many others.

“We cannot afford to fold our hands as a people or maybe working in the street of our cities and looking for job opportunities that are not just available.

“We must just try the best we can to fend for ourselves and members of our family by looking inward doing things that are products that can really add value to our family, and our society as well.

“This is very heartwarming. We will ensure as a government to articulate comprehensively the needs just as he has told us here to be an encouragement to many of our young people,” he said.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr Julius Egbedi commended the deputy governor for being a part of the tour, which invariably gave him the opportunity to see what was on the ground at Uvwie.

“We have gone to several farms, but what we have here is unique and this Young man has done very well.

“If you listen to his address carefully, you will discover that one of the cardinal programmes the governor has is exactly what he has done here.

“The governor is doing everything possible to empower our youths in the areas of agriculture; in our fish programme, exactly Mutu has done here, is what we are doing,” Egbedi said.

The commissioner reassured Mutu of the government’s assistance soon to encourage his job creation ability, which had currently been thwarted by the ravaging the COVID-19 pandemic. (NAN)
