Nkem Okeke, the Anambra State deputy governor, has enjoined the populace to ensure strict compliance to rules and laws for better a society.

He said this while receiving the newly constituted executive members of Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Anaocha Branch, who paid him a courtesy visit at his office at Government House, Awka.

Okeke pointed out the significant role that the Judiciary played among the three arms of government, stressing the need for the  development of the capacities of legal practitioners.

“Bad judges will always make bad judgement; members of the executive and legislature will come and go but judiciary will always stay,’’ he said.

While calling for fairness and equity regarding handing down judgement by judges, he said that adherence to the rule of law would make society a better place.

He congratulated the newly elected members of the executive and prayed that their tenure would usher development to the state.

Earlier, Mr Jideoffor Okongwu, the branch president of the association, thanked him for being physically present during the opening ceremony of Anaocha Bar Centre.

He also commended the show of humility exhibited by the deputy governor in receiving them, in spite of his busy schedule and position.
