EMMANUEL Okonjo, Controller, Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Enugu has said that digitalization has become a global phenomenon with banking activities/payments system processes craving for automation.

In his welcome address at the 31st seminar for Finance Correspondents and Business Editors, FICAN, on Wednesday, September 6, 2021 in Enugu, Okonjo said: “Our national currency and pride, the Naira not excluded, with the introduction of e-Naira, which will soon go live.

“It is imperative to keep teeming Nigerians informed of the various digital initiatives of the CBN.

“Its implications and of course, the need to create a secure cyber environment for its acceptance by the public cannot be overemphasized bearing in mind the critical role of the media in our daily national lives in promoting and sustaining economic development,” he said.

Okonjo, therefore, urged the participants to pay attention to the subject matter experts drawn from various walks of lives, who would be speaking in the course of the program.

“It is pertinent to mention here that Enugu State is blessed with a host of tourist attraction sites and you are encouraged to find time to visit such sites for your pleasure at your convenience.

“I wish you a memorable and wonderful stay in Enugu,” he said.
